Avocado shells are
such an easy dish to prepare and only have a few ingredients yet they make a
superb hors d'oeuvre or starter dish. One medium sized avocado will serve two
people so it is easy to work out how much you need. They look so pretty and
they taste wonderful, plus they will impress your family and friends.
The avocado is a fruit and not a vegetable which is what I thought at one time. We are never too old to learn. It's one of my favorite fruit and of course it is a fruit that is ready to go!
When you have ready to eat fruit such as this it is so easy to make a dish in extra no time at all. This is one of the benefits of the avocado and the French eat lots of them in their diet.
The most popular variety of the avocado in France is the hass which is available all year round. The fruit is only eaten when ripe and is of a lovely buttery texture with a sort of nutty taste.
The only thing to look out for when shopping for your avocado is to buy it when it is ripe, it usually feels a little soft to the touch.
