Beef curry recipe is a flavorful and hearty dish that combines tender chunks of beef with aromatic spices, savory curry sauce, and new potatoes. It's a popular dish in many cuisines around the world.

White bowl with brown beef chunks, mushrooms, onions, new potatoes in gravy with slice of bread.

This tasty curry dish doesn't need to be chili hot, you can adjust the heat to your taste. By introducing small new potatoes you give added taste and texture to an already flavorsome dish.

When new potatoes are available, it's a great idea to add them to a curry for added flavor and texture.

What To Serve With Beef Curry

  • Rice always goes well with curry dishes and Pilau Rice is one of them.
  • Of course, a French Baguette loaf to ripe and dunk is terrific.
  • A salad to contrast the heat of the curry and cool off with is alwasy welcome and a Cucumber Salad fits well.

  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander

Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a large pan, add the onions and dry mushrooms and fry over a medium heat until onions are lightly colored.
  • Add the garlic, chili powder, cumin, coriander and ginger and cook gently for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. If necessary, add a little water.
  • Add the beef and cook, stirring, until brown all over.
  • Add the tomato purΓ©e, salt and just enough water to cover the meat; stir well and bring to a boil.Β
  • Add the potatoes and fresh chilies. Then cover, and simmer for about 1 hour, or until the meat is tender and the potatoes cooked through. You may need to add more hot water from time to time, but your aim is to have a dry-ish curry.
